After agreeing to publish Napoleon Hill's The Law of Success, Albert Lewis Pelton, owner and founder of The Ralston University Press, produced a few test market copies of volume I in late 1927. The copies were given to business leaders and owners of several companies to gauge interest and formulate a quantity for the first production.
These rare prototypes; only two known to exist, were designed with full front and spine gold foil cover stamping, faux marbled end papers, cloth headbands, and top edge gold gilded pages. Unlike the prototypes, the first editions to make production did not include gold gilded pages, headbands, faux marbled end papers, or extensive gold foil stamping .
This copy is signed "With the authors compliments—Oct. 1928 Napoleon Hill".
